Splicing and Splicing Types

Splicing is the process by which a roll of material or masking is attached to another roll during processing. Splicing occurs when a finished roll size is larger than the size of one roll, or when a roll of masking being applied to other material runs out prior to the end of the material roll. There are two types of splicing, as follows:

Ø Butt Splicing:

Splicing material is placed as close as possible to original material without overlapping of the two materials.

Ø Overlap Splice:

Splicing material is placed over the original material. This method is used ONLY on rolls that will be processed in-house at Regal Graphics.

Tabbing

The placing of tabs in material. This process is used to separate lifts as described in the Regal Quality Standards.

Traceability

Ability to trace the history, application or location of that which is under consideration

Trimmed and Squared
